Anderlehus has grown organically over more than 350 years within the Alemannic settlement core of Schaan. As its surroundings changed dramatically over time, the building gradually became dwarfed by the expanding village.

Our aim was to restore Anderlehus’ place within the village while preserving its distinct character. Rather than turning it into a museum of itself, we worked with the existing structure, retaining as much of the historic substance as possible while carefully enlarging and simplifying the overall volume.

Today, the building accommodates assisted living for young people as well as the office for probation assistance, integrating social programmes into the everyday fabric of the village.
Anderlehus thus continues a four-hundred-year history of bricolage, preserving its original wooden beams, earth and stone walls while adapting them to contemporary use.
